Study TitleEnvironmental impact on metabolomics and food allergy
Study TypeMetabolomics
Study SummaryThis metabolomics pilot and feasibility (P&F) was conducted to determine if varying the levels of environmental LPS exposure and immunization with the vaccine adjuvant alum alters host metabolism. Additionally, the metabolomics will identify biomarkers that can predict allergic disease development and or disease severity after a peanut challenge in hypersensitive mice. Information gained from the proposed studies may allow for the identification of individuals who are “at risk” or “not at risk” for the development of allergic disease. Furthermore, completion of these studies may lead to identification of biological targets that may be used to develop novel therapies to treat or prevent allergic disease via future funding.
