ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	In the honeybee guts we measured the concentrations of 20 amino acids and 6
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	biogenic amines. Tryptophan and its downstream metabolite kynurenine followed
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	the same trends across the worker development, with a significant decrease in
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	their concentrations from day 3 onwards. Serotonin, on the other hand, was
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	significantly increased from day 1. Tyramine and octopamine showed significant
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	increases in concentrations (octopamine for all age groups apart from Day 1;
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	tyramine for all age groups), while their precursor tyrosine showed
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	significantly decreased concentrations for all age groups except experienced
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	foragers.

CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY            	Workers were pooled to obtain a final sample number of n = 5. The brain(s) and
CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY            	gut(s) from the same workers were assigned the same sample names. In total, we

CO:COLLECTION_SUMMARY            	stinger apparatus were gently pulled using tweezers, which allowed extraction of

TR:TREATMENT_SUMMARY             	On the day of newly emerged workers (day 0), bees were samples as a baseline for

SP:SAMPLEPREP_SUMMARY            	In brief, x mg pool gut was mixed with five times the volume (in µL) of
