ST:STUDY_TITLE                   	Effect of cooling on muscle tissue metabolism (part II)

ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	Thermal modalities are commonly used in sports medicine to affect tissue
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	healing. Cold therapy is commonly used modalities, but the metabolic changes to
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	muscle after cooling are not known. The objective of this study is to look at
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	the effect of cooling on muscle metabolites and gene expression. There are a
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	total of 8 subjects in the study. Each subject had an ice cup cryotherapy
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	treatment ("cool" samples) to one leg for 15 minutes, and the other leg served
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	as the control ("cntrl" samples). Two hours after the application of
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	cryotherapy, a biopsy was taken from each thigh muscle. Muscle was minced with
ST:STUDY_SUMMARY                 	scissors and quickly snap frozen in liquid nitrogen.

ST:STUDY_COMMENTS                	look at the relative change in metabolite abundance as a result of the cooling
ST:STUDY_COMMENTS                	procedure. only used in sports medicine to affect tissue healing.
