Control groups included no supplementation or caloric restriction to mirror ST:STUDY_SUMMARY weight loss seen in CLA group. Mice were sacrificed and blood was collected into ST:STUDY_SUMMARY EDTA tubes. Isolated plasma was immediately frozen at -80C. Adipose tissue from ST:STUDY_SUMMARY gonadal fat (epididymal white adipose tissue, EWAT) and subcutaneous fat ST:STUDY_SUMMARY (inguinal white adipose tissue, IWAT) and liver were harvested, snap frozen in ST:STUDY_SUMMARY liquid nitrogen, and immediately frozen at -80C. An aliquot of thawed plasma was ST:STUDY_SUMMARY prepared for this project and frozen in an eppendorf tube. Small pieces of ST:STUDY_SUMMARY frozen tissue were cut and weighed on dry ice and packaged in individual foil ST:STUDY_SUMMARY packets for this project. **Note: tissue weight is approximate**
