Study Title | Analysis of DJ-1 Knockout Mouse Brains |
Study Type | Mouse genotype comparison |
Study Summary | We analyzed metabolites in the brains of wild type mice and DJ-1 knockout mice. The DJ-1 knockout mouse is a model of an inherited form of Parkinson's disease. |

Project Title: | Metabolic Response to the Loss of DJ-1 |
Project Type: | Comparison of the metabolic responses to the loss of DJ-1 in model organisms |
Project Summary: | Mutations in the DJ-1 gene cause rare forms of autosomal recessive Parkinson's disease in humans, and increased levels of DJ-1 protein are often found in cancers. Thus, understanding the precise function of DJ-1 is of broad interest. We hypothesized that analyzing differences in metabolites between organisms with and without DJ-1 may lead to clues about the protein's function. Here, we present the results of our ongoing studies using multiple different model organisms. |
