Comment typeDescription
Catalytic ActivityA 1,2-diacylglycerol 3-phosphate + H(2)O = a 1,2-diacyl-sn-glycerol + phosphate.
Enzyme RegulationInhibited by sphingosine, zinc ions and propanolol. Not inhibited by N-ethylmaleimide treatment.
FunctionCatalyzes the conversion of phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). In addition it hydrolyzes lysophosphatidic acid (LPA), ceramide-1-phosphate (C-1-P) and sphingosine-1- phosphate (S-1-P). The relative catalytic efficiency is LPA = PA > C-1-P > S-1-P. May be involved in cell adhesion and in cell-cell interactions.
InductionBy EGF, VEGF, FGF2 and phorbol myristate acetate (PMA). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9305923}.
InteractionO60716:CTNND1; NbExp=9; IntAct=EBI-766232, EBI-701927;
PtmN-glycosylated. Contains high-mannose oligosaccharides.
Sequence CautionSequence=AAB50222.1; Type=Frameshift; Positions=225; Evidence={ECO:0000305};
SimilarityBelongs to the PA-phosphatase related phosphoesterase family. {ECO:0000305}.
Subcellular LocationGolgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
SubunitHomodimer. This complex seems not to be involved in substrate recognition, it may confer only structural or functional stability. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14725715}.
Tissue SpecificityUbiquitously expressed. Highly expressed in heart and placenta.
